My name is Abigail Cheney, and I am currently a senior at Wheatland High School. Throughout my high school years, I have been actively involved in a wide variety of organizations, clubs, and extracurricular activities, all of which have helped shape my leadership skills, teamwork abilities, and dedication to my community.
Academically, I am a proud member of the National Honor Society, where I strive to uphold the values of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. I have also been deeply involved in the Gove County Youth Foundation (GCYF), where I currently serve as President. This role has allowed me to collaborate with peers, contribute to community initiatives, and help make a meaningful impact on the lives of those around me. In addition, I am honored to serve as the Senior Class President, a position that has given me the opportunity to represent my classmates and take an active role in shaping our final year of high school.
Beyond academics, I am passionate about extracurricular activities and have been involved in a diverse range of clubs and sports. I have participated in FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America), Art Club, and the School Play, all of which have allowed me to express my creativity and develop valuable life skills. In athletics, I have been dedicated to Volleyball, Basketball, and Track and Field, where I have learned the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and discipline. Additionally, I have been a proud member of the Dance and Cheerleading teams, where I have had the privilege of representing my school and supporting my fellow student-athletes.
I chose to be on the Gove County Youth Foundation board because I believe in the power of community involvement and the importance of giving back. Being active in my community is something I am truly passionate about, and I hope to use my leadership roles and experiences to make a positive difference in both my school and the broader community. Through my involvement, I aim to leave a lasting impact and inspire others to contribute in meaningful ways.
As I prepare for the next chapter of my life after high school, I am excited to continue growing, learning, and finding new ways to serve others. My experiences thus far have reinforced my belief that even small actions can create a ripple effect of positive change, and I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me.
I am currently a junior at Quinter High School, where I stay actively involved in various extracurricular activities, including volleyball, basketball, and track. In addition to my school and sports commitments, I work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), which has given me valuable experience in the healthcare field. I am passionate about caring for others and find fulfillment in being able to make a difference in people's lives, even in small ways. I also enjoy exercising to stay healthy and energized, as well as doing nails as a creative and relaxing hobby.
I chose to join the Youth Board because I wanted to take on a leadership role within my school and community. This opportunity allows me to engage with others, foster positive change, and advocate for students who may be shy or less outgoing. I believe that every voice matters, and I want to help ensure that everyone feels heard and included.

My goal is to continue helping people in meaningful ways, whether through direct patient care or contributing to the well-being of my community. I chose to be part of the foundation because I truly believe in the importance of using the resources we’ve been blessed with to their fullest potential. Our schools and community have so many opportunities to grow and improve, and it’s exciting to be part of a group that gets to help decide which projects will have the greatest impact. Being involved in these discussions and seeing firsthand how we can create positive change is an incredible experience, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future!
